Obituary for Mack Donald Nelson II

Mack Donald Nelson II of Granbury passed away, Monday, May 11, 2015, after a
courageous battle with kidney and liver disease. Mack managed his health
issues the same way he approached all of life’s struggles, with prayer, determination and a sense of humor. Mack was born on May 28, 1957 in West Columbia to Mack Donald Nelson, I and Fayon Creel Chitwood. They both predeceased him along with two brothers, Mark and Mike Nelson; and parents-in-law, Mary and Cliff Spaulding. Mack’s father, a carpenter, framed and roofed homes throughout central Oklahoma. As a small child, Mack often went to the job site with his father. At the age of 12 Mack was working on his father’s crew and by the time he was 16, Mack was managing a framing crew. Mack attended Oklahoma State University, majoring in Electrical Engineering. He graduated from Clear Creek Baptist College in Clear Creek, Kentucky with a degree in Religious Education. Mack worked for over 30 years in the Bio Medical field. His last position was Director of Clinical Engineering with Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri. Mack was a passionate fan of the OSU football team. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and golf. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Greentree Christian Church and the Sojourner’s Sunday School Class. Mack is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne; his ex-wife and the mother of his children, Susan Nelson; two daughters, Dr. Anita Red (Derryk Ly) and Rene Nelson (Joseph Elder); two sons, Ryan (Amanda) Nelson and Mike Nelson; step-son, Jer (Libby) Mitchell; two grandchildren, Sarah Nelson and Noah Mitchell; brother, Monty Nelson; sister-in-law, Joanne (Duane) Laylon; and close friends, David Nelson and Keith Kidwall.
