Obituary for Bertha Cutchen (Barry)

Bertha Mae Cutchen, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Graveside Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 19, 2018, at Jaybird Cemetery in Reno. Following the service family and friends are invited to attend lunch at the church where she was a member located at: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1010 Timberoaks Drive, Azle. Bert was born in Port Huron City, MI on February 19, 1937, the first born child of Bell and Leila Barry. She spent most of her adult life in California working with her family in the horse racing industry. In the early 1980’s she opened Bert’s Equine Bookkeeping taking care of the day to day business for several veterinarians and running her small business until 2016. Bert was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crafts of all kinds and was a perfectionist in everything she made. She enjoyed helping others in any way she could. Her grandkids always knew they could call upon Grandma Bert and she would be there. She had a big personality and boisterous laugh. She permeated every person’s life around her and knew football better than most men. Bert was preceded in death by her father, Bell Barry and brother-in-law, George Vogel. Bert is survived by her loving children, Joy Cutchen of Little Rock, AR; Charlie Cutchen and wife, Juley of Livermore, CA; William Cutchen and wife, Kaylyn of Springtown; her mother Leila Barry and sister Sue Vogel both of Spring Branch, TX; Grandchildren: Brittanie, Bobbie, Courtney, Dillon, Cody, Wyatt, Colton, Cauy, Jade, Justina and 4 great grandsons, Konnor, Ryder, Cash and Lincoln; plus nieces, extended family, her church family and special friends, George Monsanto and Shannon Osterhout.
