Obituary for Larry Weldon Maness

Larry Weldon Maness, 69, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019.  He was born to Arrie and Ruth (Byers) Maness on October 13, 1949 in Weatherford, Texas.  They both preceded him in death.  As a child, he developed a love for aviation and spent much of his free time building and flying model planes with his brothers.  As a teen, he pursued flying small, single engine airplanes until family commitments became a priority and he gave it up to focus on a career.  However, throughout his life, the love of airplanes and aviation never faded and, as an adult, he enjoyed building radio controlled planes.

Over the years, Larry worked in many fields of the construction industry before eventually becoming a Master Electrician. He shared his talent for construction with his son and generously offered his time to help others with home projects.

In addition to his love of aviation, Larry was also an avid gardener.  He enjoyed growing and experimenting with unique species of flowers and vegetables which he generously shared with friends and family.  Larry was also a creative artist.  With the skills of an engineer, he had an amazing talent for creating unique pieces using everyday objects and natural materials.

Larry is survived by his son, Karl Maness and wife Lauraine; brother, Valton Maness, and many members of his extended family.
