Sterling Roy Embury, 71, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 11, 2020. He was born on July 21, 1948 in Blue Island, Illinois to Lester and Lois (Stelter) Embury. Sterling grew up spending a lot of time in his grandmothers’ home, whom he loved dearly. Sterling was a city boy but always dressed in jeans and a cowboy hat. Once he was grown and old enough to make his way into the world he got to Texas as quick as he could, the late 1970’s. He spent his adult years as a truck driver and dispatcher. The logistics business is what he knew through and through and he enjoyed it thoroughly. Sterling was also a fine horseman and a dog man. He took great pride in his horse, Dan, and his constant companion, Sadie. Sterling was always extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He bragged and spoke of them often. Sterling’s parents preceded in him death along with his son, Todd Embury, Sr. and daughter, Kristi Embury. Sterling is survived by his son, Keith Embury; grandchildren, Todd Embury, Jr., Tyler Embury, Tanner Embury, Zachary Embury, William Ligue and Michael Ligue; great grandchildren, Isiah Ligue and Arianna Ligue; mother of his children Sharon Embury; and a host of extended family and friends.
