Obituary for Evelyn Marie Tinney (Spindle)

Evelyn Marie (Spindle) Tinney, 82, our sweet, nurturing and loving mother, Gigga, aunt and friend passed lovingly and peacefully into the arms of her Savior, on Monday, November 21, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Lewy body dementia.

To honor our precious mother and grandmother our family asks (in lieu of flowers) for contributions be made in her name to the Good N.E.W.S. program; a non- profit organization that she loved and supported for over twenty years. A memorial service for friends and family is being planned for sometime after the holidays.

Evelyn was born September 28, 1940 in Washington DC where she lived until the age of four. She moved with her parents briefly to Breckenridge, then to River Oaks and finally to Azle when she was in the sixth grade. Evelyn called Azle home for the remainder of her years.

During her senior year of high school Evelyn met her future husband, Frank, at the Azle Skating Rink. The two were married the weekend following her high school graduation. Frank and Evelyn loved each other so much, they chose to marry twice!  Together they had 3 beautiful children, Cindi, Bill and Allen.

Evelyn held several jobs working at the Fort Worth Shopper, the Azle News and finally at Tri County Electric where she retired after 20 years.  She loved her time at Tri County and spoke often of the life long friendships she made there.

Evelyn or Gigga as she was affectionally known to her 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, was a joy to all around her. She was incredibly witty, often using humor to make everyone around her laugh even during the hardest of times.  She had the ability to make you feel like the most special person in the world by simply being in her presence.

She would tell you to always buy the shoes and eat the cake!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Tinney, parents, Helen and Rusty Spurrier, and Walter and Audrey Spindle, brother, Ricky Spurrier and sister, Carol Fiech. Left to treasure her memory are her daughter, Cindi Admire and husband Randy; sons, Bill Tinney and wife Melissa and Allen Tinney and wife Shira; sisters, Sharon Radford and Susan Lytton; grandchildren, Cody Admire and Shelbie, Courtney Scarlett and husband Matt, Justin Tinney and wife Melissa, Emily Dean and Justin, Dakota Tinney, and Lilly Finchum; great grandchildren, Colton and Evie Claire Scarlett, Addison Admire, Finley and Hattie Dean, Lucas and Olivia Tinney, Makinlee Tinney, Davis Shackelford and dear friends, Genelle Dunaway and Penny Justice.
