Obituary for Robert Eugene Hamon

Robert Hamon, 93 passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Decatur Medical Lodge in Decatur, of natural causes. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, by the family. He was born May 20, 1929 in Depew, Oklahoma to Samuel Drew Hamon and Ethel Lily (Barnes) Hamon. Later the family moved to Dallas.

Robert served in the US Army Korean War and became Sargent receiving a Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart on his bravery for saving lives. He was a very remarkable man.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother Ethel (Barnes) Hamon and father Sam Hamon. Brothers, Jack, Elbert, Earl (infant) Paul (infant) and sisters, Lavern Renfro, Beulah Xander, Mildred Sheldon and Betty Morrison. Nieces, Ann Renfro Dawson, Donna Morrison and nephew Charles Renfro.

He is survived by his wonderful care giving niece, Tracie (Morrison) Ruiz & husband Chris of Grand Prairie that stayed by his side and their daughter (great niece) Amber (Ruiz) Ellis, husband, Josh with their 2 children, Emma and Jeffrey where Robert moved to Decatur at the age of 90 to live with during his final years.

He is also survived by niece, Debbie Schmidt of Mansfield, Great nieces, Melody Renfro of Irving, Kristen Ruiz, Ashley Schmidt, Aubrey Schmidt, and Cameron Schmidt.
Great nephews, David Renfro of Abbott, Larry Little, Ricky Besherse and Bobby Schmidt. Great-Great nieces and nephews, Emma, Jeffery, Nissa, Elaine, Quin and Sidney. Stepson Mark Little of Hico and Stepdaughter, Kim Little. Longtime best friends, Max and Delaine Rhodes of Cleburne.
