James Richard Burkett (Rick), 68 born April 18, 1955 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Lowell and Mary Burkett of Decatur, TX passed away August 8, 2023 after a long illness. He was a longtime cowboy and loved horses and dogs. He had a passion to work on ranches which he did including working on Matagorda Island. His love of the outdoors included hiking the Appalachian mountains,.

He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, survived by brother Ronnie Burkett, sister Linda Balboa., son Jamie and many nieces and nephews.

He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him .
