Donald P. Foltz was born in Portland, Oregon on December 1, 1948. He grew up in Southern California and went to Don Bosco Tech High School. Don joined the Marine Corp after high school and served in Vietnam as a crew chief on a medical evacuation helicopter. He worked for BNSF Railway for most of his career. Don moved his family to Texas in 1998 and retired from the railroad in 2008. He passed away, August 25, at the age of 75, from severe head trauma related to a fall while putting finishing touches on his dream wood shop.
Don is predeceased by his mother, Florence Ashby; father, James Foltz; and sister, Debra Steinriede.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Foltz; children, Rock (Amber) Foltz, Laura (Brian) Naville and Patricia Foltz; sister, Tracy Farley; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was an elder at his beloved church, loved working with wood, and could build just about anything. He enjoyed traveling around the United States in an RV with the love of his life, his wife of 33 years. Don always had a good story to tell, or even 3 or 4. And one of his greatest qualities, and he had many, was his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12
