William Ed “Bill” Hastings, 73, of Bridgeport, Texas, joined his Savior on Friday, December 3, 2021. Bill was born February 11, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to William Roy and Beulah Mae (Marsh) Hastings. He was raised in Addison, Texas but spent all his adult years in Bridgeport.
Bill loved rodeo and the cowboy way. As a teenager and young adult, he won numerous roping competitions. He attended Tarleton State University and was a member of the rodeo team there. After college, he owned Hastings Land and Cattle Company and was a stock contractor in the rodeo business. He loved to hunt and was incredibly knowledgeable about firearms. Bill was a master of “spinning a yarn,” and was always entertaining to talk to.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Swampy Hastings; his brother, Tommy Hastings, and his loving wife, Kim Hastings. Bill is survived by his son, Ian Roy Hastings; stepsons, Aaron Chezem and Jedidiah Collins, and their wives, Carolyn Hastings, Nikki Chezem and Skye Collins. Bill is additionally survived by his sister-in-law, Susan Hastings and cousins Chip Davis, Jeff Davis, Mark Davis, and Tracy Davis. Kim and Bill had eight grandchildren, Hannah and Henry Hastings, David and Harper Chezem, Arabelle and Zachariah Collins, and Summer and Isabella Seanz.
