Gary Hovatter

Gary Ray Hovatter, 72, passed away, Monday, August 23, 2021 at home surrounded by those that love him. A private family memorial will be held. He was born March 12, 1949 in Grafton, West Virginia. Gary is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Ray Hovatter, mother and step father, Mildred Grace (Kinter) and Robert Coop and sister, Vickie Claypool. He grew up in Grafton as a child and moved to Ohio as a teenager, where his father worked as an Engineer for Baltimore-Ohio railroad. They moved to Austin where he graduated from William B. Travis High School and he worked as a tow truck driver and retired after 28 years. He enjoyed listening to Elvis and worked on a pit-crew with dirt track hobby-stock cars. Gary was also a commissioned security guard. He is survived by his children, Heather Galvez and husband, Jerry Taylor, Heath Hovatter and wife, Dawn Robinson and Jimmy Martin and wife, Theresa. grandchildren, Nathaniel, Rebekah, Alyssa and Brianna; great grandchildren, Alayna, Sarah, Evan, Giovanni, Roman, Samuel, Naomi, Ella and one on the way; extended family and friends.
