Shawn Nicholson

Shawn Dwayne Nicholson, 53, a loving husband, son and father, passed, Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at home surrounded by those that love him.

Shawn was born March 24, 1970 in Lubbock. His mother, Dianna (Baker) Windscheffel, father, Jackie Nicholson preceded him in death along with his sister, Tracy Davis.

Over the past 33 years, Shawn Nicholson has lived his calling of serving others. At the age of 20, Shawn joined the Navy where he was trained in aviation electronics. He was stationed aboard the USS Midway out of Yokosuka Japan, served in Dessert Storm, and traveled around the world while enlisted.

After his time in the Navy, he served the city of Lubbock as a Fire Fighter for the Lubbock Fire Department for 11 years. It was there that he discovered his true calling in Emergency Medical Services.
For the past 17 years, Shawn has helped thousands of people while working at MedStar on the ambulance. He has mentored students, partners, and peers.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Donna (Smith) Nicholson; son, Justice Nicholson; daughter, Tabbi Carey; sister, Vicki Snider; step-father, Gary Windscheffel; mother and father-in-law, Patricia and Carroll Smith; nephews, Zak Nicholson, Derik Fowler and Dalton Fowler; nieces, Hayden Glassman and Emma Davis; extended family and many friends that will miss him.
