They both preceded him in death along with his sister. Joe is survived by his companion of 20 years, Annette Edwards; son, Mikel Smith and wife, Juanita; daughter, Mary Parada and husband, Jose; brother, Charlie Smith; grandchildren, Alliyah, Gabreila and Mariah; extended family, Glenn Weeks and Deen Weeks.
