Duray

September 15, 1954 — November 24, 2024

Kevin Derrick Strong, aged 70 of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Kevin was born on September 15, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Father, Thurman Strong and Mother, Janet Bruer. On December 1, 1998 in Hampton, Virginia, he was joined in matrimony with his loving wife, Wanda; the two of them shared 36 beautiful years together.

Kevin, affectionately known as Duray, is loved and will be greatly missed by his friends, family and loved ones. He was a jokester, always sharing a good laugh with those who knew him. If you’d had the opportunity, you knew how invaluable those jokes truly were. In addition to his one of a kind sense of humor, Duray had an array of other interests. In his younger years, he was a boxer; he also loved playing baseball and football as much as watching them, his favorite team being The Chicago Bears. What better to accompany his love for watching a good game, than a good meal? Kevin loved to grill and share a delicious home cooked meals with those that he cherished. His favorites were ribs, banana pudding, and (his granddaughters personal favorite) homemade spaghetti.

With an impeccable taste in music, you can bet that Kevin spent much of his time enjoying the melodies of the artists that he was quite fond of. With bands like “The Temptations” and “Earth, Wind and Fire” on the playlist, it’s no surprise that Duray loved to dance. He would put on songs like “My mind keeps telling me”(Eddie Holman), and “Give your baby a standing ovation” (The dells), his daughters fondly remembering being swept up onto his feet in order to dance with him.

Kevin is no longer with us, but will live fondly in the memories of his loved ones.
