William Traverso

William ”Chewy” Traverso, 61, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023 in Fort Worth. He was born April 25, 1962 to Louis and Patricia (Donnelly) Traverso. His parents preceded him in death. Chewy was raised in Englewood, New Jersey and graduated from Dwight Marrow High School. He served in the US Air Force. Chewy joined the Fort Worth Police Department in March 1987. He retired at the rank of Sergeant in March 2017. Chewy was known for ending every roll call with, “ Go forth, fight evil, and don’t wreck anything!” He was well respected among his peers and those who worked with him. Chewy enjoyed renaissance fairs, collecting swords, and motorcycle riding. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Jeannie Traverso; daughters, Lauranna Traverso, Ashley Majors; sisters, Elizabeth Santiago and her husband Manuel, and Celia Traverso; nieces, Elisa, Alexis, Tori and, Michelle; nephews, Zackery and Manuel, along with extended family, friends and police family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
