James Michael Wilson “Mike”, age 70 of Bowie, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025 in Decatur, Texas. He was born June 6, 1954 in Pecos, Reeves County, Texas to Thomas James “T.J.” and Eveleene Ruth (Pickett) Wilson.
Mike grew up helping his daddy out at the cotton farms of Reeves County, and even though he grew up and moved away, his heart never really left. Mike worked many years for the Tandy Corporation and sold one the first Radio Shack computers in Texas - the TRS-80. He also owned and successfully operated one of the first video rental businesses in Texas for many years.
Most recently, Mike worked as a pipeline inspector. This job was an excellent fit for him. He made many friends and received great fulfillment in this line of work. Mike was a dedicated employee for nearly 20 years in the North Texas Barnett Shale as a contractor for Dynegy and Targa Resources. He retired in 2020 as a Senior Pipeline Inspector.
Mike had a deep love and devotion for his family and was a dedicated and loyal friend. He was extremely intelligent, especially when it came to anything he did with his hands. He was an expert craftsman with anything he attempted. He had a love for cars and a love and sometimes hate for the Dallas Cowboys (but a diehard fan). He loved trips to the mountains, good mexican food, and watching the beautiful sunsets on his back porch.
Mike was a man of few words but very kind and possessed a very tender spirit. He was very unassuming and quiet but was always available to help his neighbor. He was a good man with a gentle and loving heart.
Survivors include his sister Eve Jane Roberts and husband John “J.R." Roberts of Decatur, Texas and their children Seth Roberts and wife Amy; Heather Mashburn and husband Mike; Sara Astley and husband Adrian; Rebecca Roberts; and Michelle Roberts; his sister Janet Louise Brown of Massachusettes and son Preston Brown; and his brother Thomas James Wilson of Colorado and children Sabrina Bailey and husband Jim; Lane Wilson; and Lottie Wilson.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents T.J. and Eveleene Wilson.
He leaves behind a lasting imprint on the hearts of his family, and his memory will be cherished.
